Main functionality

The medical telemetry was developed over 50 years ago by Spacelabs Healthcare. Together with NASA, a way was developed in 1958 to monitor the vital parameters of astronauts. Spacelabs was also the first to introduce telemetry at hospitals. Nowadays the flexibility of digital telemetry allows you to configure the system to meet your and your patients' needs. Telemetry gives you real-time information where and when you need it.

Digital transmitters

Spacelabs Healthcare's digital transmitters guarantee performance in various frequency bands. The wireless medical telemetry service gives you more choices, decreasing the chance of noise so that you are ensured of an uninterrupted signal. The transmitters offer a single or multiple lead and a choice between only ECG or ECG with SpO2/ NIBP monitoring in order to also facilitate ambulant monitoring of several patients.

There are three levels of ECG monitoring available, and these can be combined with ST segment analysis with ST trending:

  • Level 1 emits alarms for life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Level 2 adds alarms and trends for abnormal rhythms and runs
  • Level 3 expands the number of rhythm classifications and the morphology review

Analysis of alarms and rhythm disturbances is immediately activated when a connection is made. The patient does not need to be admitted to the central station for the monitoring to begin. All data are sent to the central station and to the ICS. Patient comfort is important to Spacelabs Healthcare. That's why the digital transmitters are compact, light-weight and water-resistant but also durable enough to withstand daily use.

Digital receivers

Spacelabs' compact receivers can be configured to any channel and fit in a receiver box that can be connected to the central station. They are also compatible with Spacelabs's portable and wireless monitors. When the signals are sent directly to the monitor, you can continuously view vital parameters, including during transport to other departments.

Spacelabs' unique dual-diversity antenna system gives every receiver a redundant source of data The strongest signal is automatically selected, with noise and drop-outs being neutralised. The flexibility and interchangeable design simplify service and minimise downtime.
