Itémedical and ICNet announce Partnership Agreement to bring new focus to patient safety with Antibiotic Stewardship and Nosocomial Infection Surveillance in Benelux

Press release

Stroud (ENGLAND), Tiel (The Netherlands) May 29, 2013 – ICNet the leading software provider for Antibiotic Stewardship and Nosocomial Infection surveillance has today announced a new partnership with Itémedical to strengthen patient safety today in the Benelux as well as future antibiotic effectiveness.

Antibiotic Resistance is a growing concern in health care today and the National Congress on Antibiotic Stewardship in Ede, The Netherlands, is the perfect location to announce this new partnership to the market. Antibiotics are a scarce resource and their ability to effectively treat infections are a growing concern. The world of Nosocomial infections have long since been known to be a serious issue to both the healthcare environment and its patients. The United States Center for Disease Control estimates that 1 in 20 hospitalized patients will receive an HAI, of which the implications can be far reaching. Evidence indicates historically that the majority of patients with an HAI will have an extended length of stay, for as long as a week.

Pat Beyer, CEO of ICNet says, “The partnership of Itémedical is a significant step forward for providing hospitals with a safer environment in which patients can be treated. Of every 100 hospitalized patients at any given time, 7 in developed and 10 in developing countries will acquire at least one health care-associated infection”. He continues, “Itémedical is a leading provider of clinical software that improves patient care every day in the Benelux. They are a natural partner to bring this established innovation to market.”

According to Peter Hof, CEO of Itémedical, “several studies have indicated that an efficient, proactive and efficient Antibiotic Stewardship system in any healthcare facility can save lives, time and money, by significantly helping to reduce the infections rates in hospitals and support medical teams working towards better results.”
